Hamlet
For this touring production of Hamlet presented by The Warehouse Theater, I leaned into the chaos of Hamlet’s deteriorating mind and the surrealist themes in this modern interpretation to inspire my lighting pallet. Knowing what challenges we would face with a touring show, I chose bold angular accent lights to inform tone and character, and an edgy but approachable front light wash to keep everything accessible to a student audience. With very few lights, and thus a speedy hang and focus timeline, I was able to indicate a descent into madness, while leaning into the somewhat farcical twists in this version.
